Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan at GNDEC

Ludhiana, October 2, 2018: In line with the national mission of Swacch Bharat, the students of Guru Nanak Dev engineering College, Ludhiana under the banner of HELPS: an NGO of college students associated with NSS units of the college organized a special Swacchta Campaign to commemorate Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti. The drive was carried out in an effort to achieve the dream of clean and healthy India. Giving details of the event, Avinash, Convenor, HELPS said that engineers are not only meant for constructing machines, infrastructure development of cities but they should use their analytical abilities to find solutions to complex problems facing the society. He said HELPS has been carrying out projects like AABHA (Child education for underprivileged kids), environmental protection etc. Appreciating the efforts of NSS units and HELPS, Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal, GNDEC said that the NSS students of the college have been at the forefront of social service. Organizing such camps would help inculcate a feeling of responsibility in the young citizens of the country towards keeping their country clean and healthy. Giving further details of the activities under NSS and HELPS Prof.AmeetaSeehra and Pf. Shivani Arora Abrol said the focus of the activities conducted was on basic ground problems such as quality education, health facilities, cleaniness. They informed that students have been carrying out on line and offline campaigns to highlight these issues. Dr.Harpuneet Singh, Officer-in-charge NSS, GNDEC thanked the students for their overwhelming response in making the event a success.
