Survey on higher education is the need of hour: Tiwari

A workshop on “All India Survey on Higher Education” being conducted by Punjab Technical University. It is being organised by PTU and Ministry of HRD jointly. 

Kapurthala, August 13, 2013: “It is a well known fact that educated youth plays a significant role in the development of a country, but the policies of education should also be strong at the same time. It will be possible only if proper survey will be conducted on the demand and supply of a country.”

This was said by K.K. Tiwari, Assistant Director of MHRD. He was the resource person in the workshop on “All India Survey on Higher Education” conducted by Punjab Technical University. This workshop was organized by PTU and Ministry of HRD jointly. Nodal officers of various state universities and PTU affiliated colleges participated in the workshop.

In the inaugural ceremony, PTU Dean Academics Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu and Deputy Registrar Er. Sunil Kumar welcomed the guests and the delegates.

In the workshop, the delegates were told about filling the survey form, brief information to be provided and other necessary information. JSO of MHRD Saurabh Arora and Iha Jain of NIC satisfied the queries of the delegates.

Assistant Registrar PTU Sandeep Kumar Mehmi told about the performance of PTU in surveying. He told that in this survey, 361 higher educational institutes from all over India have provided information under form 1 and 960 colleges from Punjab have provided information under form 2. He also told that 162 PTU affiliated colleges have filled their survey form which is 45 percent.

In this workshop, more than 100 nodal officers from Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Guru Angad Dev University of Veterinary Sciences Ludhiana, Lovely Professional University and other higher educational institutes participated.
