Jalandhar, December 22, 2012: The Deputy Director General and Regional Head, Punjab of the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO),Harinder Singh said," The Union Ministry of Statics and Programme Implementation has decided to focus on debts and investments of the public during a nationwide survey will be conducted during the next year.
He said the survey would be conducted at 4,048 randomly selected households of already chosen 92 blocks in Punjab, including both rural and urban areas. He said as many as 1,84,000 households would be surveyed throughout the country."
Assistant Director Arvind Gupta (NSSO) said, apart from the debts and investments, information regarding land and livestock holdings and situation Assessment Survey of the agricultural households would also be gathered.
In a press note issued here, he said while various agricultural departments would use the information, collected in connection with the LHS, information about debt and investment would help the RBI in formulating future policies.
