Surprise check in welfare directorate finds 5 officers and 28 other employees absent

Chandigarh, December 2, 2014: Five senior officers and 28 group B, C & D employees of the Social Security and Women & Child welfare department were caught absent by a special raiding team of personnel department that conducted surprise check in the office during opening hours.
According to an official spokesperson to ensure regularity, discipline and punctuality in Government offices throughout the State, a surprise check in directorate of Social Security and Women & Child welfare at sector 34 was conducted.
Giving the details, official spokesperson said that this surprise checking was conducted by the team consisted of Special Secretary Personnel, Gurpreet Kaur Sapra and Special Secretary General Administration Manjit Singh Narang, on the instruction of Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal. He said that 5 officers including 2 Deputy Directors, one DCFA and 2 CDPOs were found absent. He said that 28 other employees were also found absent during the surprise check.
Taking a serious view of lax attitude of the employees not maintain their punctuality despite repeated instructions and advisories, the spokesperson said that instructions have been issued to head of the department to issue show cause notice to all erring officer and employees and in the absence of any satisfactory reply from them, strict action under civil service rules be initiated against them. He said that such inspections shall be conducted in future also and any kind of irregularity in official work and absenteeism would not be tolerated.
