Sukhbir greets Punjab hockey team for becoming national champion

Chandigarh, October 3, 2012:Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab today greeted Punjab Hockey team for winning the title of National Hockey Championship.  

Giving full credit to the players and coaching staff for this victory, Badal, who is also president of Punjab Hockey, said that it was matter of great pride for our state that the Punjab has clinched both the titles in senior and junior category.

He said that the SAD-BJP government was paying full attention towards the promotion of sports by strengthening the sports infrastructure besides providing world class sports facilities.  He said that Punjab Government has uplifted the standard of hockey by laying six new astroturfs. It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab has trounced the Air India in the final of National Hockey Championship in senior category while the Punjab had clinched the title in junior category held recently.

Meanwhile, Olympian Pargat Singh, Secretary Punjab Hockey and MLA, also extended congratulations to the winning team and coaching staff. He also said that the both winning teams would be suitable awarded in coming days.
