Sukhbir Badal appeals to Sikh community for peace and harmony

Chandigarh, July 26, 2014: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and President Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Singh Badal today described the Saharanpur clash ‘very unfortunate’ and urged the Sikh community to maintain peace and communal harmony.
In a statement issued here today, Badal extended appeal to Sikh and Muslim community to maintain peace, communal harmony and brotherhood. He said that violence, divisiveness and hatred have no place in our country. "This politics of hatred must end. I appeal to everyone to remain calm and refrain from fanning communal passions," Badal said in the statement.
Earlier, he has rung up Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to take every step to maintain law and order in deteriorating Saharanpur besides ensuring safety and security of Sikhs as well as other communities.
Meanwhile, Badal informed that a high level delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has left for Saharanpur to take a stock of current circumstances.
