Ludhiana, October 30, 2019: To spread awareness about crackers causing noise and air pollution and numerous health hazards to human beings, animals and birds. Students and staff members of Ludhiana Group of Colleges today organized an awareness rally on Green Diwali. The students took out the rally from Ludhiana Group of Colleges and covered “Chaukimann, Gureh, Jagraon and Mullanpur” . Students of classes BBA, BCA and B.com (P) participated in rally carrying banners highlighting the importance of ‘Cleaner India-Greener India’. They raised slogans like ‘Say No Crackers’, ‘Clean India, Green India’, “Green Diwali, Happy Diwali’. They further requested people to not to pollute the environment and not to waste money on crackers. The students concluded the drive with a signature campaign wherein they took an oath to abstain from bursting firecrackers and signed on a board. Students raised slogans and postcards to spread message about causes and consequences of environmental degradation. They frequently appealed to all people to realize their responsibility towards environment and to celebrate Diwali without the use of crackers in a simple, dignified and noble way. Principal Dr. Nishi Bala said “Through this rally we expect to bring awareness among people about the ill-effects of bursting crackers. We must keep in mind that most of the firecrackers used on Diwali are made by extremely toxic and it is injurious to our health”
