CHANDIGARH, MAY 25, 2017: Students aspiring to take the Mathematics Olympiad programme could now take pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad (PMRO) at centres of their choice, the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NHBM) has announced.
The change is one of the several that the NBHM, the board that conducts the examination, has announced in an attempt to simplify examination procedure.
NHBM has said that students could take the examination, to be held on August 20, 2017, at various centres across the country.
Only those who take the centrally-administered examination will qualify to take the subsequent Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) examination. No other independently administered examinations will be recognized from this year.
A website on which schools can register as centres will be made available from May 20, 2017 to June 10, 2017. Any school with at least 20 registrations could register as a centre. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has made its schools available as centres.
However, IAPT will issue a final list of approved centres. Students opting for a particular school as centre could be re-assigned to another nearby centre.
Students will be given a copy of answer sheet after the examination. An answer key will be uploaded on HBCSE’s website for students to check their answers. This has been done to bring transparency in the examination system.
