Struggle of thousands of contractual employees came to happy end in Punjab

Chandigarh, October 26, 2016: Finally the ongoing struggle of thousands of contractual employees came to happy end when the Government of Punjab passed the policy for regularisation of 30,000 employees in the cabinet meeting held here yesterday and many leaders witnessed this historical decision of government in the favour of employees. Firstly the cabinet sub-committee and then the Punjab cabinet gave its final nod to regularize the services of all those contractual employees who were serving in various departments for the past 3 or more than 3 years and were appointed following the proper procedure. In this context, the State President of NRHM Employees’ Association Punjab, State Body member of Theka Mulazim Sangharsh Morcha and NRHM Employees’Association Joint Front Punjab Dr.Inderjeet Rana, General Secretary Maninder Singh and members Jaswinder Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Arun Dutt & Dr.Priyanka Bhandari showed their gratitude towards the govt on the behalf of all National Health Mission Employees. They said, “The attitude of Govt. in the previous meetings conducted by association with Respected Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister & Health Minister has remained positive on the matter of regularization of employees”. Further the State President Dr.Rana specially mentioned that throughout all this process our Health Minister Sh.Surjit Kumar Jyani left no stone unturned and put the matter of regularization of employees of all categories (who fulfill the terms & conditions of policy) very strongly in the cabinet sub-committee meeting. This is only after his advocacy that govt considered all the A, B, C and D category employees. Dr. Rana thanked the concerned bureaucracy for taking timely and instant action in this regard and making available all the data and calculations as per the requirement even in shortest periods of time.
Further elaborating Dr.Rana told this policy will benefit 5138 employees from National Health Mission, 290 from Punjab state AIDS control society, 297 from Punjab Health system Corporation and 398 from Directorate Health Services. He has appealed to the govt to implement this policy by the earliest in this very tenure of govt before Election-code so these employees could serve the public with same zeal and enthusiasm in the next tenure of govt too. Here it needs to mention that in the recent meeting held between association and Principal Secretary to
Chief Minister, he had already cleared that these employees will keep on drawing the same salary even in the period of three-years probation but the employees who are getting lesser salary will be given basic pay for three years.
Considerable that these employees were on Hunger strike and holding dharna for past 13 days in Chandigarh for their regularization. Remembering the efforts done by association and the employees Dr.Rana said it is due to all this people that finally we nailed it. Along with Dr.Isha Singla, Avtar Singh, Dr.Dilbag Singh, Baljit Kaur, Prabhjit Kaur, Chanchal bala, Ninder Kaur, Kiranjit Kaur, Amarjit Singh, Sarabjeet Kaur, Dr.Yogesh, Manjinder Singh and others were also present.
