STRICT ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST HOSPITALS DUPING BENEFICIARIES OF BHAGAT PURAN SINGH SEHAT BIMA YOJANA: PUNJAB HEALTH MINISTER

Ludhiana, August 23, 2016:Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr Surjit Kumar Jyani today stated that if any hospital empaneled under Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana dupes the beneficiaries of this government scheme, then the hospital would be removed from this scheme, legal action would be taken against the owner/doctor and the hospital’s registration would be cancelled. He urged the beneficiaries of this scheme to submit their complaints at the toll free number 104.
While attending a function organised at a private hospital in the city today, when it was brought to the notice of Mr Jyani that some hospitals are duping the beneficiaries of Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana by charging money by keeping the beneficiaries in dark and later are also filing claims under this scheme, he took strong notice of it and clarified that there would be zero tolerance against such doctors/hospitals. He said that if any hospital or doctor is found indulging in such illegal activity, the hospital would be removed from this scheme, strict legal action would be taken against the concerned doctor and proceedings for cancellation of hospital registration would be initiated.
Mr Jyani said that Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana is a very important government scheme that has been started by the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party led Punjab government for the welfare of a large section of people and no hospital or doctor would be allowed to dupe beneficiaries. He appealed people that if they come to know about any such incident, they should immediately bring it to the notice of Punjab government by submitting their complaint at toll free number 104 and assured that immediate action would be taken.
In reply to a question where media persons asked Mr Jyani if some villages of Fazilka district have been declared open for sale, he said that this is just propaganda of the opposition parties and that nothing of this nature has happened. He said that the opposition parties are just cooking up such stories, which are totally false and baseless. Mr Surjit Kumar Jyani said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal believes in overall development of the state, which is well received by the Punjabis. The Health and Family Welfare Minister claimed that the SAD-BJP would form government for third consecutive time.
He also said that all government hospitals of the state are providing good services to people and people’s attitude towards government hospitals is satisfactory and that is why, a large number of people are getting treatment there. He said that the Health Department is all geared up for tackling Dengue and it is also educating people about it.
