Five-Member Delegation Of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Foundation Gets Rousing Welcome In Kolkata
Ludhiana, March 25, 2016: A five member delegation of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Foundation received a rousing welcome on reaching the Kolkata airport last evening. The delegation members are on a four-day visit to West Bengal and they would be making efforts for installing the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in West Bengal. A group of Punjabi's led by Megh Singh Sidhu and Jagmohan Singh Gill received the delegation members.
The five member delegation comprises of Krishan Kumar Bawa, former minister Malkit Singh Dakha, Punjabi Sahit Akademi former president Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Prof Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation president Pargat Singh Grewal and Senior Congress leader Gurdev Singh Lapran.
Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill informed that the delegation members would also visit the birth place of Bhagat Jai Dev Ji, whose writings are part of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. They would also install his painting prepared by artist RM Singh at his birth place.
Today, the delegation members visited Shanti Niketan and birth place of Bhagat Jai Dev Ji. At Shanti Niketan, Rabindra Sangeet Martand Dr Mohan Singh Khangura (born at village Latala of Ludhiana district) was honoured for serving as Professor & Head of Shanti Niketan University
for 35 years today.
Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill informed that he also spoke to Cabinet Minister Mr Surjit Singh Rakhra over the phone and urged him that the Punjab government should also honour Dr Mohan Singh Khangura. He said that very few people know that he is serving as Professor & Head of Shanti Niketan University for so long and it’s a matter of pride for all Punjabis. Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill said that Mr Rakhra has assured that Dr Mohan Singh Khangura would be honoured by the Punjab Government by holding a special function.
During their visit, the delegation members would hold meeting with Bachan Singh Saral, Megh Singh Sidhu "Raqba", Jagmohan Singh Gill
"Dhudike", Hardev Singh Grewal, Gurdev Singh Ageti, Harjit Singh Lapran, Novelist Mohan Kahlon, Baljit Singh Raul, besides several
others.
This five-member delegation would educate the Punjabis settled in West Bengal about Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in view of his Martyrdom
tercentenary, installation of his statue in West Bengal, installation of Rabindranath Tagore's poem on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur by translating it in Punjabi, Bangla, Hindi and English at Shanti Niketan, besides several other issues.
