Ludhiana, May 20, 2017: The state government is committed to provide better and affordable health facilities to the people and for this purpose the corporate houses have taken initiatives to help the government. This was stated by health Minister Mr Brahm Mohindra who was in city to attend function.

Health Minister Mr Brahm Mohindra said that the corporate houses like Ralson, Cremica, Vardhman and CMC today donated state of the art equipment and manpower to improve the health infrastructure in Punjab. This is the first of its kind step towards improving health facilities and delivering to the masses. While Ralson contributed equipment, furniture and books for the library of the civil hospital worth 15 lacs, Cremica contributed fully automated laundry plant worth 13 Lacs, Vardhman contributed one ambulance, one ultrasound machine and CMC assured the involvement of the manpower in terms of specialists doctors in the civil hospitals. The Minister said that the social responsibility taken by these corporates is highly appreciated and requested more corporates to rope in to make better health facilities in the state of Punjab.

Later the Health minister also visited the the civil hospital Ludhiana where he interacted with the patients. He also instructed the civil surgeon to keep highest standards of the cleanliness and hygiene in the civil hospital. This is for the first time that special care was taken that essential services in the hospital were not disturbed at all the visit of the minister and common man visiting the hospital does not face any problem. The health minister also distributed 17 hearing aids kits to the needy kids.

Sh. Brahm Mohindra, Health Minister Punjab also inaugurated first of its kind medical outreach camps in Ludhiana today in which more than 2000 patients were given medical treatment free of cost. The mega camp included gynecology, medical specialization, pediatrics, eye, skin, immunization, HIV testing, Sputum testing for TB, Free X Rays, Free Lab tests and free specs to all the needy. Congratulating the health department for this initiative the health minister said that this was the election promise of the congress government to outreach to the poor and needy with the health facilities. The department will organize 76 such camps in one month in Ludhiana district only. Not only these medical facilities are extended to the patients in these camps but in case of surgeries also they will be referred to the civil hospital free of cost. Blood donation camp was also organized on this occasion.

Attending an interactive meeting with the board of directors of the DMC hospital Sh. Brahm Mohindra said that epilepsy is a social stigma in our society and 1% of the population is suffering from this disease. People still think that a patient suffering from this disease should get married or not, whether the lady having this problem should have pregnancies or same in the case of child drop out. The health department has given green signal to the new project of Government of India and the Indian council of medical research for the urban population regarding the Epilepsy. This new scheme will give the patients complete investigation/ EEC/ MRE/ CT SCAN free of cost. Not only this, the medicine for the entire treatment will be given free to the patients also under this scheme.

Targeting previous SAD-BJP, Minister said that they have got empty treasury and several scams came to light. A committee under led by Secretary health Department was formed to check the misrule and scams in health Department.

Prominent among those present on this occasion were Member Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sanjay Talwar, Surinder Dawar, Vimal Sumbly, District congress president Gurpreet Gogi, Amarjit Singh Tikka, Kulwant Singh Sidhu and Civil Surgeon Dr Rajeev Bhalla.
