Ludhiana, October 20, 2012: SPS Apollo hospitals conducted a training programme on surveillance and control of hospital acquired infections.

Dr Victor Rosenthal from Argentine who is founder chairperson of the “International Nosocomial Infection Control Consortium (INICC)” visited SPS Apollo hospitals for the training of hospital staff including doctors from various specialties, nursing staff and infection control team.

Dr Victor reviewed the infection control policies adopted by the hospital and appreciated the strict infection control procedures followed as per international guidelines issued by center for disease control and Joint Commission International USA. He stated that due to these policies and efforts put by the infection control team, the incidence of hospital acquired infection is so low and is at par with international standards. He urged to the hospital authorities to participate and share their good work done in form of publishing their data with INICC.

Dr G L Awasthi, director medical services assured Dr Victor that SPS Apollo Hospitals will participate by sharing there data with INICC so that it can be published and compared internationally.

Jugdiep Singh Managing Director stated that SPS Apollo hospitals has recognized the need for strict infection control policies long back and since than constant hard work and team effort has resulted in decreased incidence of hospitals acquired infections.
