Ludhiana, December 7, 2017: As per directions issued by the Director General of Police and Sh.Arpit Shukla, IPS, IGP/Zone, Jalandhar, a special campaign was launched against drug trafficking and also to crack the nexus of drug suppliers. Sh.Surjeet Singh, IPS, SSP, Ludhiana (Rural) told that during investigation in case FIR No.311 dated August 11, 2017 u/s 15/61/85 NDPS Act PS Sadar Jagraon, 35 Kg poppy husk was recovered from the accused Amninder Singh, a resident of Village Amargarh Kaler from the Lancer Car having a special kind of boot built in the car wherein the poppy husk recovered. The accused disclosed that he got the poppy husk from Rafiq Ahmad of Kashmir.
On December 6, 2017, Rafiq Ahmad came to Punjab by air to collect the money of the said assignment and the same was arrested by the police. On further interrogation of the Rafiq Ahmad, 10 kg poppy husk was also recovered on his demarcation. He disclosed that the said poppy husk has already placed by him and he also disclosed that he has 10/15 persons, whom he supplied the poppy husk but he did not know the names of these persons but can identified them on seeing the persons. On this identification parade was conducted and red alert has been issued in the district. During red alert following persons have been arrested and recovery has been made:

It is worth mentioning here that there are special portions in the boots of the car, which cannot be observed easily. They filled the poppy husk in these portions so that they can not be recovered easily. For their safety and when rounded up on any naka, they keep the weapon with them. It is also worth mentioning here that Mohammed Rafiq who is police personnel at Badgam District, purchases the poppy husk at the rate of Rs.300 to 400 and again sold the same at the rate of Rs. 1400 to 1500 per Kg. in Punjab who sold the same at the rate of Rs. 4000 to 5000 per Kg. In the past there was ban from Rajasthan and the smugglers supplied the poppy husk from J&K and Mohammad Rafiq is the main Supplier from Kashmir. The arrest of the Mohammed Rafiq roken the supply line to Punjab. The investigation regarding the relation of SPO Mohammad Rafiq with the anti national elements is going on. On further investigation there is a possibility of more recoveries, said an official press release.
