Spirited KMVites plant trees and clean streets to contribute to Swach Bharat Drive
City resonated with the slogans of Clean City, Green City during the rally by the KMV students Jalandhar, September 15, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Jalandhar launched 'Clean and Green City' campaign under its plastic free drive and sapling plantation programme. They cleaned the roads and removed polythene dumbs near Ranvir classic and Kapoor Hospital. The drive was organized to create mass awareness among city residents about the ill effects of plastic and for the importance of an ecological balance for better environment and healthy living. The saplings were planted in and around the Pathankot Chowk in order to beautify the chowk and make it clean and green. The students from the student welfare and the department of JMC of the college planted around 100 plant saplings and also made it garbage and plastic free. The drive proved to be a green festival mobilizing the faculty, staff and students into a community of passionate tree planters & lovers who worked towards preventing loss of green cover and promoting plantation. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi encouraged students to plant more trees and take care of their environment. Principal madam also emphasized that this drive has been initiated under the 'Smart City' and 'Swach Bharat' campaign of the government and that the students must be connected with sapling plantation and awareness programmes which are key factors to encourage citizens to protect environment by planting more trees and discarding the plastic. Dr. Madhumeet, Mrs Sadhna Tandon, Mrs Rashmi Sharma, Dr Nitu Chopra, Dr Monica Sharma, Ms Amarjot, Ms Gurline, Mrs Ashima Sahni, Mrs Mani Khehra and all the faculty members of department of JMC and the department of Punjabi participated in the drive.
