Ludhiana, September 5, 2019: Speculations are on that whether or not status of Minister of State (MoS) would be withdrawn from Ludhiana-based Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, the newly appointed chairman of the Punjab State Youth Development Board.
Enquiries made from political circles reveal that the Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh is greatly unhappy over conferring of MoS status to Bindra. They say that the Department of Sports has no authority to confer MoS status because this could only be done by a department that is directly under the leadership of chief minister. Many eyebrows were raised after they learnt about conferring status of MoS to Bindra.
It was September 3, 2019, when Bindra had assumed charge as the Chairman of the Punjab State Youth Development Board in the presence of Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Punjab. In this connection, an official press release was also released to the media persons by the Information and Public Relations, Punjab, mentioning that “Sukhwinder Singh Bindra has conferred the status of the Minister of State”.
Interestingly, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra on his fb account on September 3 at 10.08 pm posted a post along with photographs about taking over his charge where he mentioned nowhere that he has been conferred status of MoS. Similarly, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on his fb account on September 4, 2019 (12.29pm) posted the photographs mentioning about the event. However, he too, did not mention anywhere about MoS status given to Bindra.
