SPECIAL: Tandon escapes question on “e-TRIP”

Ludhiana, September 3, 2012: Former Punjab Minister Balramji Dass Tandon tried to escape queries about “e-TRIP” system introduced with effect from August this year by the state government.  

On being contact over phone by City Air News today, Tandon who is also a member of BJP’s statecore committee said the party was not in favour of e-TRIP system introduced by the state government.

He believed that the new system should not have been introduced in the larger interest of the trade and the industry.

“We are against this new system”, he said categorically.

On being pointed out that as to the SAD did not agree to the decision of its coalition partner (BJP) of not introducing “e-TRIP” system in Punjab as was decided in state BJP’s core committee meeting held on August 25, Tandon refused to make any further comment.

He pleaded that this question was concerned to the SAD-BJP alliance, therefore, he could not reply to such questions during telephonic conversation.

Moreover, he said he would speak face to face on the issue once he visited visit Ludhiana in the future.

It may be mentioned here that the state BJP’s core committee in it’s meeting held on August 25 had decided that the party would go against the government’s proposal of “e-trip”, where sales and purchases made by iron and steel traders above Rs 2 lakh and general goods worth Rs 3 lakh and above would have to be reported to the excise departmeant in advance by email.
