Special Secretary Health Department Punjab on Thursday hold meeting regarding Dengue Fever with District Administration Officials at Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, September 18, 2015: To keep a check on Dengue fever and making a collective effort in this regard, Mr Vikas Garg, Special Secretary, Health Department, Punjab, on Thursday chaired a meeting of Dengue Monitoring Committee with District Administration officials, at Bachat Bhawan, here today. He urged all government departments to make collective efforts so that we can keep the spread of Dengue fever under control. Deputy Commissioner Mr Rajat Agarwal, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr GK Singh Dhaliwal, Civil Surgeon Ludhiana Dr Renu Chhatwal, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
      Mr Vikas Garg has directed all the Senior Medical Officers to keep a close watch on all Dengue patients in their respective areas. He also directed the Executive Officer and SMO of Khanna to carry out a survey in their areas and take corrective measures so that there are no more dengue patients there. He directed school heads to educate the students about ways to prevent dengue fever during their morning assemblies. He also suggested the parents that their children should wear full sleeve shirts while going to school. He said that if any student does not wear full sleeve shirts then he should apply mosquito repellant cream on his arms and other parts of body.
      Mr Vikas Garg said that the Dengue Monitoring Committee would be considered working well only if the number of dengue patients comes down in the district. He also asked the district administration officials to give their own suggestions too.
      Deputy Commissioner Mr Rajat Agarwal said that a survey was carried in high risk areas and 575 challans were issued against owners where the Dengue larvae was found. Emphasising on generating more awareness regarding dengue, the DC asked the Civil Surgeon, Rural Development Department, Nehru Yuva Kendra and all other such departments to organise periodic meetings and awareness campaigns in different parts of the rural and urban areas focused on slum areas. He also asked the Education department to organise special awareness campaigns in schools during the morning assembly. He also directed Water Supply and Sewerage Board officials to check water accumulation in all areas of the district and make sure the areas are cleaned.
      Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana, Mr GK Singh Dhaliwal said that for the control of Dengue fever in the city, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation along with Health Department has started a special drive in the city in which 18 different teams have been formed which are carrying out fogging in the city with the help of 14 fogging machines.
      Prominent among those present in the meeting included Miss Kanu Thind, Assistant Commissioner (General), Dr Gagandeep Grover, Dr Ramesh Bhagat, besides senior officials of district administration.
