Special Lecture at Department of Philosophy, Panjab University by Prof. Sreekala M. Nair

Chandigarh, August 16, 2016: Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Philosophy at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady (Kerala) Prof.Sreekala M.Nair today delivered a lecture on the theme “Raising the Edifice of Philosophy on Linguistic Foundations: The Mimamsa Model” today at the Department of Philosophy, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.
Prof. Sreekala M. Nair proposed a new model of doing philosophy where unlike in the western tradition which is based on mathematics, logic and epistemology. She proposed the Mimamsa School where language is the foundation and edifice of knowledge. She proposed that the Mimamsa theory of Semantics deserve our attention and that it is non-theological and non-religious. She reported that this is India’s original contribution and offered an opportunity to compare western traditions of philosophy and create an opportunity for dialogue and mutual enrichment.
The lecture was attended by senior academics, research scholars and students of Panjab University and its affiliates. The participants were welcomed by Chairperson, Department of Philosophy Lallan Singh Baghel and was chaired by Department of Philosophy Professor V.T. Sebastian,.
The vote of thanks was given by PU Department of Philosophy Dr. Shivani Sharma who expressed their gratitude to all the people who participated in the lecture, which was a huge successful event.
