Special lecture on “Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Youth”
Chandigarh, December 2, 2019: In continuation of celebrations of 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Department of Life Long Learning and Extension organized a Special Lecture on “Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Youth” at Seminar Hall, Emerging Area Building, Panjab University Chandigarh. More than, 60 Students, Faculty Members and Members of the Community attended this Special Lecture. The main objective of organizing this lecture was to spread the message of the Guru Nanak. While speaking on the occasion, Mr.Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Chairman, Punjab Youth Development Board, (Govt. of Punjab) shared Guru Nanak’s Teachings with the participants. Here he liberally quoted Guru Nanak Dev Ji, to inspire the youth. While elaborating this, he briefed youth that they must have faith in themselves and speak and assert only those things which they honour. He advised the youth to propagate Human Rights and Values, Peace, Love, Equality and Kirat Karo Naam Japo Wand Chhako. Youth has a lesson to learn from each of his teachings. While addressing the participants, Prof. Karamjit Singh, Registrar, Panjab University said that living in the right way is much superior than visiting pilgrimage destinations. He said University is a pilgrimage and I am proud to admit that Panjab University Students are moving in this direction by organizing ‘Guru Ka Langar’ at PU Campus occasionally with love and equality and doing more for society upliftment programs. He further appealed to them that they should opt for more selfless services in life, so that they can find meaning and purpose in their life by cutting out the clutter of society by giving back what they owe it. Dr. Parmjit Singh Kang, Chairperson, Department of Life Long Learning introduced the theme of lecture and proposed the vote of thanks.
