Special Drive to be conducted in Chandigarh for enrolling left out electors giving focus on first time electors

Chandigarh, June 1, 2017: As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, a Special Drive is to be conducted to enroll left out electors giving focus on first time electors (Young Indian Citizens in the age group of 18-21 years).
As per the collected data in Chandigarh, the forms received in the age group of 18-19 years were approximately 1,847 of which nearly 1,623 were enrolled by the election department in the year 2017. To educate and enroll the first time electors in Chandigarh a special drive will be carried out w.e.f.1-7-2017 to 31-07-2017. During this period, the concerned Booth Level
Officers will conduct a door to door survey in the area under their jurisdiction. The relevant Forms will be received from the residents who have not yet been enrolled and are above 18 years as on 1-1-2017, but, the main focus will be on the enrollment of young electors of age group of 18 to 21 years extended upto 30 years.
In addition to above on two special campaign dates i.e. 9th July and 23rd July,2017 which falls on Sundays the Booth Level Officer will sit at their Designated Location of Polling Stations and will receive the claims and objections from the public. All citizens of Chandigarh are hereby informed through this press release to enroll yourself as a voter of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency if not registered earlier, so that no eligible resident left be out without enrollment in the electoral roll of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency.
The Political Parties and residents of Chandigarh have been requested to extend their full co-operation in the Special Drive.
