Ludhiana: December 29, 2012: Manish Tewari, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting (Independent charge), has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the Delhi assault victim who passed away in Singapore this morning.

In his condolence message, Tewari has called upon everybody across the length and breadth of this great land to maintain peace.

Tewari said that:  " The girl waged a relentless battle to live, unfortunately destiny had willed it otherwise...our hearts cry today”. 

He also condoled the death of the rape victim in Patiala, who was compelled to commit suicide due to the apathy of the police.

Tewari underlined that his government is committed to ensuring that the guilty get punished for this heinous crime and such incidents do not occur in future.

The Minister was speaking on the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony of two rural roads in Ludhiana district, which are being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY). The ceremonies, which were preceded by a two-minute silence in the memory of both these girls, were simple and without the usual pomp and show.  

Tewari was accompanied by Malkit Singh Dakha, Jassi Khangura, Isher Singh Meharban, Pawan Dewan.

One of the roads would connect Village Swaddhi to Village Dhandoori and is being constructed at a cost of Rs 9 crore under the Central government’s flagship programme PMGSY. The other road is from Jodan to Narangwal Dhoorkot, which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 5 Crore under PMSGY.
