Ludhiana, January 6, 2016: The student organisation of India (SOi) wing of Shiromani Akali Dal came in support of students of college of Agricultural engineering and technology of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) who were on strike from last five days.
Director Youth Development Board and SOI president Meetpal Singh Dugri brought the matter in the notice of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who assured justice to the students. Meetpal Singh also talked to university authorities to find out a solution to end the strike.
Meetpal Singh Dugri said that the students on strike have approached them after the University authorities suspended two students. The students pleaded innocence and demanded to cancel the suspension of students.
Meetpal Singh said that the matter was serious as the students have skipped their examination and the same was informed to Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal. After talking to the students Meetpal Singh Dugri informed the students that the suspension of two students will be cancelled shortly.
Talking to media at PAU, Meetpal Singh Dugri said that SOI is standing rock solid behind the students and will support the agitation of students if the university will not provide justice to students.
The students on strike told SOI leaders what university have authorities have suspended two students accusing them of hooting during the Youth festival. After that they announced strike and spending nights outside college.
Prominent among those present on the ocassion were SahibJot Singh Chawla,Raja Kang,Kawarpal Singh Kp,Puneet Grewal and many more were present.
