Society should always remember contributions of great personalities:  Himachal CM
Dharamshala, June 6, 2019: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that it is a matter of great concern that in the run of life we are unable to take time to remember the contribution of those great personalities, who played a pivotal role in adverse circumstances for the upliftment of the society. He stressed that we should tell our current and future generations in detail about the struggles and contributions of the great men so that they get inspiration to work in the interest of society, state and the country. The Chief Minister was speaking at the annual function organized by Rajput Kalyan Trust at Dharmagiri near Chamunda in district Kangra on the occasion of 480th birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap on Thursday. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of Maharana Pratap international school premises being constructed under the aegis of Rajput Kalyan Sabha Trust. Mahant Karmagiri of Dharmagiri Math has donated 50 Kanal land for construction of this ambitious project. Recalling the sacrifice of Maharana Pratap and his services for the country, Jai Ram Thakur said that he was a true patriot and warrior. He fought against the Mughal regime through his entire life and never surrendered before it and in the historical battle of Haldighati in 1576, the Mughals suffered defeat due to his bravery. While appreciating the services being rendered by the Rajput Kalyan Sabha to the people of its community, he said, “it is a matter of great contentment that the Sabha is endeavouring to eradicate social evils.” He expressed happiness over the fact that 20 percent reservation would be given for free education of poor children in the Maharana Pratap International Public School by Rajput Kalyan Sabha. The Chief Minister said that in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, people of the state gave heavy mandate in favour of the BJP candidates of in all the Assembly constituencies. He said that it was possible due to the vigorous leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the welfare and development works done by the state government in the last 15 months. He said that the state government is dedicated to the “Welfare and interests of all sections of society and recently the state Cabinet has taken the decision to provide ten percent reservation in government jobs and educational institutions for economically weaker sections of the general category,” added CM Jai Ram Thakur announced financial assistance of Rs. 31 lakh to the Rajput Kalyan Sabha Trust for construction of the school building. He also announced to provide Rs. 51 lakhs for developmental works under Vikas Mein Jan Sahyog after completion of the laid down criteria. He directed the Public Works Department to conduct survey for broadening of stretch of road till the school and mettaling of road up to Dharmagiri Math so that the budget could be provided. President of the Rajput Kalyan Sabha Trust Kuldeep Thakur gave details of various welfare activities being run by the Rajput Kalyan Sabha. Chief Advisor of the Sabha, Tek Chand Rana detailed about the various programmes and scholarships being given by Rajput Kalyan Sabha. Secretary of the Sabha JSP Rana also expressed his views on this occasion. MLA's Arun Kuka, Arjun Kumar, Ravinder Dhiman, Mulkh Raj Premi, Vikram Jariyal and Rita Dhiman, former Minister Ravinder Ravi, former MP Kripal Parmar, former MLA Surendra Kaku were also present on this occasion.
