Social activist & former sarpanch Krishan Swarup Gorakhpuria, pens book- ‘Pehli Jung -E -Azadi & Rao Tularam’

Chandigarh, April 21, 2019: Krishan Swarup Gorakhpuria, a well known social activist, writer and former sarpanch has penned a book ‘Pehli Jung-E-Azadi and Rao Tularam’. The book is based on Haryana’s role in India’s first war of independence- the 1857 revolt against the British. It is noteworthy that Gorakhpuria who hails from Haryana, has carried out sustained campaigns over issues like inter-caste marriages, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and farm crisis. “Haryana made considerable number of sacrifices in the 1857 fight against the Britishers, but its contribution in history is not projected much. The first nawab to be hanged for freedom struggle was from Haryana's Rania. This part of history has been revealed in my book.” Said the author, Krishan Swarup Gorakhpuria. The book was formally unveiled at an event held at Gandhi Smark Bhawan, Sector -16 here. The boo has been published by Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee Gorakhpur(Fatehabad), teh event was presided over by famous social activist K K Sharda, the book launch programme also saw participation of Dr M M Juneja, a well known Historian of India , who was the main speaker too. Former Haryana Additional Chief Secretary RR Fulia too was present. “The idea behind writing and launching this book was also to make the youth aware about the contribution of Haryana in the freedom struggle.” Added Gorakhpuria. It is pertinent to mention that Krishan Swarup Gorakhpuria is also the President of Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee. Kaptan Singh Arya Secretary of Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee too was present at the book launch event.
