SLIET team ‘Junkyard Warriors’ Bags ‘Durability Award’ and ‘Pride of Punjab’ Award at twelfth edition of Mahindra BAJA SAE India 2019at IIT, Ropar
Mahindra in association with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India, successfully organized the 2nd part of twelfth edition of Baja SAEIndia 2019 at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar (Punjab) from 06th –10thMarch` 2019. This event aims to provide an opportunity to young, enthusiastic and talented engineering students to showcase their passion for automobiles while encouraging them to conceive, design and fabricate four-wheeled single-seater all-terrain vehicle (ATV). TheSant Longowal Institute of Engg. & Technology (SLIET), Longowal team “Junkyard Warriors”(19 team members) under the guidance of Dr Shankar Singh, Professor (Mechanical) as Faculty Advisor (FA)conceived, designed and fabricated a four-wheeled single-seater all-terrain vehicle (ATV), and participated in the Baja SAEIndia 2019. The Team captain was Abhishek Tiwariand Vice-captain& Driver Arshvir Singh Sidhu. The SLIET ‘ATV’ (# 57) driven by Arshvir Singhcompleted highest 40 laps in the endurance raceof four hours. SLIET team ‘Junkyard Warriors’ bagged the Durability Awardand Pride of Punjab award (Punjab & Chandigarh) alongwith cash prize.The aspirations and efforts of the team are well appreciated and complemented by Prof. Shailendra Jain, Director, SLIET. Baja SAE India has never been merely an event to the team “Junkyard Warriors”, but a challenging platform to excel their capabilities. The Team under the guidance of Prof. Shankar Singh (DhronacharyaAwardee) has grabbed many awards at Baja SAE India in the past, since 2009.
