Ludhiana/New Delhi, April 22, 2016: In line with the objective to enhance the ease of doing business, Integrated declaration under the Customs single window has been implemented under which exporters would not be required to take permission from other agencies. This was stated by Mr Najib Shah, Chairman, Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC). He was speaking at an Interactive Session organized by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) on 21st April, 2016. The CBEC Chairman informed that many Partner Government Agencies such as Animal Quarantine, Plant Quarantine, Drug Controller, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Textile Committee etc. are on board and initiative would be taken to include others too. Mr Shah further informed that there is complete disbursal of Duty Drawback electronically and hardly any claim is pending as on date with Customs Authorities particularly with JNPT Customs. The Chairman said that ICEGATE help desk receives large number of queries (last year, over three lakh mails were received and each one was attended) and advised that exporters should feel free to continuously write their issues to this help desk for due attention by the Department. Exports-imports play crucial role in economy and CBEC have taken several steps to reduce transaction cost & time and ‘ease of doing business’, Mr Shah added.

During the interaction, Mr. Rajiv Talwar, Joint Secretary (Drawback) informed that the Department has cleared the mechanism for filing single MEIS application for exports made from different EDI ports to Department of Commerce. This move, once implemented, will greatly simplify the whole process as presently exporters has to file separate application for each EDI Port of exports.

Earlier, FIEO President Mr. S C Ralhan urged for dispensing the process of registration of duty credit scrips with Customs as the same is transmitted by DGFT to Customs electronically which is issued only on the basis of the export data transmitted by Customs to DGFT.
