SIC ORDERS PUNJAB POLICE TO PROVIDE RECORD OF SPU CONSTABLE RECRUITMENT TO THE APPLICANT

CHANDIGARH, JULY 4, 2017: The State Information Commission during the hearing of a case has instructed the Punjab Police to supply the record of SPU Constable recruitment to the applicant.

Disclosing this official spokesperson of the State Information Commission said that applicant Malkiat Singh s/o Jasbir Singh resident of Gurdaspur has filed an appeal before the commission whereby instructions were sought for the Punjab Police to provide the detail of the SPU Constable recruitment from serial number 1 to 230, certified copies of the list of selected candidates of all categories, height, chest measurement details of the candidates including the detail of physical trials like high jumps etc. The applicant has also alleged that despite repeated requests the respondent Punjab Police has not submitted him the record under the RTI, Act 2005. Applicant has also alleged that the physical measurement of his body was not recorded correctly with malafide intention. To substantiate his allegations the applicant has also submitted the record of his selection in Chandigarh and Haryana Police. He also leveled serious allegation on the SPU Constable selection as he alleged that a candidate who scored 11 marks for height in the first list was awarded 12 marks in the revised list.

Chief Information Commissioner, Mr. S.S. Channy while disposing of the case took into consideration all the relevant documents put on record by the applicant. Mr. Channy in the face of natural justice and as per the provisions of the Right to Information, Act 2005, ordered Punjab Police to provide record pertaining to the SPU Constable recruitment to the applicant.
