Chandigarh, November 28, 2019: ShareChat, India’s largest regional social media platform, has announced its 2019 UGC Trendz report for Punjab today. The report talks about the key UGC trends and topics that are driving online conversations amongst its millions of Punjabi language users in 2019. Report also highlighted thousands of new creators from Punjab joining the platform this year to showcase their talent to become popular and achieve scale.
“Romance and Relationships” has topped the trend with 18% users creating/ posting content on the genre this year, Interestingly “Fashion and Make-Up” has witnessed a phenomenal jump from #7 in 2018 to #2 this year with more than 16% men posting user generated content on the category. Devotion” is trending at #3 with Men posting more than 11.42% content posts on the genre. Women are more inclined to post on Romance and Relationships with 17.52% contents posts this year. With majority of the ShareChat users coming from 18-30 age group, this definitely strikes an interesting insight in the social media space highlighting the diversity in content consumption patterns in India.
Thousands of creators joining the platform
Report also highlighted how thousands of new creators have joined ShareChat from different markets of Punjab including Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandar and Amritsar to showcase their talent and have become immensely popular in the region.
Guri Singh from Hoshiarpur who has always been passionate about acting and joined the platform along with his wife in January 2019. He has now become famous on the platform with thousands of followers and is now popular as "ShareChat wale Paaji".

Gurwinder Kaur from Amritsar achieved her identity after marriage by working with brands like OYO and Coke on ShareChat. Today she reaches milestone million views on every video she posts.
Many such creators from Punjab have emerged as trend setters for various categories who are doing well and have achieved scale, recognition and more importantly evolved as influencers on ShareChat, working with top brands directly on the platform.
Growth of Video Content
Per ShareChat Jan-Nov 2019 Trendz report, people spent over 37 million hours on the platform to consume over 11 millions user generated videos. A total of 38 mn UGC were created on ShareChat by its users which got more than 530 millions WhatsApp shares this year, indicating an upward trend. Everyday, around 1600 hours of videos gets uploaded on the platform, with an average of 15 seconds video play.
This trend is motivated by some exciting features and tools platform has that includes audio filters, face filters and tongue twisters helping users to create /recreate some interesting videos on their smartphones.
