SHAHKOT BY-POLL: 9 Candidates file nomination papers on last day

Chandigarh, May 10, 2018: On the last day of filing of nominations nine more candidates filed their papers for the by-poll of Shahkot assembly segment thereby increasing the total tally candidates in fray to 19.
Divulging the details, a spokesperson of the Chief Electoral Officer Punjab said that Mr.Malkit Singh, Mr.Balwant Singh, Mr.Naib Singh, Mr.Kashmir Singh, Mr.Sukhdev Singh, Mr.Prabhjot Singh and Mr.Hardev Singh (all independents) along with Mr.Hardev Singh and Mrs.Manjinder Kaur from Indian National Congress filed their nominations for the by-poll.
The spokesperson further said that the last date of making nominations was May 10 while the date of withdrawal of candidature was May 14. He also said that by-poll for Shahkot would be held on May 28 and results would be declared on May 31.
