SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar visits homes of six deceased at Nangal Khurd village in Ludhiana district on Thursday. The pilgrims had died in a road accident during pilgrimage on the occasion of Holla Mohalla at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Ludhiana, March 28, 2013: SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar visited homes of six deceased namely Ajaib Singh, Jarnail Singh, Major Singh, Charanjit Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur and Harjit Kaur at Nangal Khurd village in this district on Thursday and announced to give finanncial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh each to the families of the deceased who had died in a road accident during pilgrimage on the occasion of Holla Mohalla at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Makkar expressed his sympathies with the aggrieved family members and also announced to give financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each to about 30 Sikh pilgrims who had sustained injuries in the road accdient. Five pilgrims were undergoing treatment at the local civil hospital for whom he announced to extend the required assistance and the whole treatment expenditure by the SGPC.
He said the whole Sikh Path was stood with the aggrieved families.
Among others, the village Sarpanch Bibi Manjit Kaur, Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Alamgir manager Resham Singh and head granthi Rajinderpal Singh were present on the occasion.
