SENTENCE: 3 public servants sentenced to undergo RI for upto 2 years in separate cases of bribery

Jalandhar, November7, 2012 :The Special Judge, CBI cases, Jabalpur has convicted Ram Chandra Mishra, a former Sales Manager and  Mintu Dubey, the then Manager (Transport and Quality Control), Jayant Project, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Singrauli (M.P) and sentenced them to undergo two  years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.10,000 in a bribery case.

CBI filed charge sheet before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jabalpur on 30/03/2010,Under Sections 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 7 & 13 (2) read with (1) (d) of the  P.C. Act. 1988, alleging that R.C. Mishra, being a public servant in his capacity as Sales Manager, Jayant Project, NCL, Singrauli, had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.50,000 from the complainant, an authorised representative of a Coal Depot, in the matter of allowing lifting of the 1,000 MT coal purchased by their Coal Depot through E- auction under the allotment order dated  March 16,2009.

According to a report lodged by the complainant that on April 22,2009, an accused  R.C. Mishra demanded and accepted the part bribe money to the tune of Rs.10,000 from the complainant at the office premises of the CHP Site of Jayant Project, NCL. Mishra handed over the bribe money to Mintu Dubey, Manager (Transport and Quality Control), Jayant Project, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Singrauli. Both were arrested.
