Seminar on “Current Environmental Issues” at PU
Chandigarh, March 28, 2019: The Department of Environment Studies,Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a one day national seminar on the topic “Current Environmental issues” under the Chairpersonship of Dr Madhuri S Rishi. Professor R.K.Kohli, Vice Chancellor, CUP, Bathinda, in his inaugural address talked about various global, national , regional and local current environmental issues faced by us. INSA honorary scientist, Professor R.R. Rao emphasized how the biodiversity of India with the help of modern biotechnology could be used to boost the economy of our country. Prof. O.P Toky, talked about mitigation of water logging through bio drainage. Prof. Zafar A. Reshi, Dean Research, University of Kashmir shared his views on relating invasion and modelling. Professor. A.S. Ahluwalia gave a splendid presentation on azolla and how it can be used to mitigate the climate change. An Environmental Law Expert, Dr. Pushpinder Kaur chose to talk on was “environmental laws in the constitution of India”. Professor A D Ahluwalia ho stressed the need to outreach the society. The seminar was very much interactive and insightful and ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr Rajeev Kumar.
