Jalandhar, November 11, 2014: Punjabi literature and Punjabi language in the modern world was the topic of a seminar on Punjabi literature held in Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar today.

Organised by the Punjabi Sahit Sabha of the College, this seminar witnessed the participation of noted Punjabi writer Manmohan Bawa, along with Punjabi literary critics Dr. Rajnish Bahadur Singh and Dr. Jas Mand. Speaking on the occasion Manmohan Bawa said that in the modern world literature was more relevant than ever and it was the responsibility of the academia to support and promote literature as language thrived on literature.  In his address, the Principal of the College Dr. GS Samra said that Lyallpur KhalsaCollege is committed to serve Punjabi culture and language. He informed the present that student bodies like Punjabi Sahit Sabha aimed at bringing out hidden potential of students and to ensure their exposure to the experts of the subject. The discussion in the seminar was chaired by Dr. Kulwant Singh Sandhu Head of Punjabi Department and Prof Gopal Singh Buttar coordinator of the Sabha. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Iqbal Singh Bhoma of the department.
