Dharamsala, March 25, 2016: Regional Forensic Science Laboratory of Himachal (Northern Range), Dharamshala will be organizing a seminar on “Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS)” , Dharamsala on 26th March, 2016. The Ld. Judges/Judicial Officers, Public Prosecutors, Police Officers and Forensic Experts will take part in one day seminar on NDPS. Dr.SK Shukla, Ex-Director, Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Chandigarh will inaugurate the seminar
Dr. S. K Pal, Assistant Director said , “The dignitaries expected to attend the seminar are S.L Sharma, District & Sessions Judge, Kanga at Dharamsala, GD Bhargva (IPS), Inspector General of Police, Northern Range, Himachal Pradesh, Kautav Sharma (IPS), Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh, Dr. SK Shukla, Ex. Director, Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Chandigarh, Dr. Arun Sharma, Director, Directorate of Forensic Science, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Meenakshi Mahajan, Deputy Director, Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Northern Range, Dharamshala, and Sh. Kapil Sharma, Assistant Director, NDPS Division, SFSL, Himachal Pradesh, Junga.” He further added that the Police Officers of Northern Range (Kangra, Chamba and Una districts) will attend the seminar and participate in the deliberations.
It is pertinent to mention here that Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, was enacted in 1985. Under the NDPS Act, it is illegal for a person to produce/manufacture/cultivate, possess, sell, purchase, transport, store, and/or consume any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance.
