Jalandhar, October 12, 2015: The School of Biotechnology & Biosciences of Lovely Professional University organized two day workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship’. Secretary of Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE), Mr Ashok Kalbag sensitized hundreds of LPU students of different departments for learning by doing.  He motivated LPU students to design new projects as ‘Import Substitution’ so as to boost Indian economy. The target of the workshop was also to integrate students of different disciplines, and encouraged them to work in multi-disciplinary teams to design society needed entrepreneurial projects. During different interactive and pragmatic sessions on both the days, students’ presentations were also discussed and evaluated by Mr Kalbag. 
An IIT (Bombay) alumni, Er Kalbag guided students on various issues related to entrepreneurship development with deep insight on educational narrative.   Elaborating the industrial model of education, he demanded a prominent shift from formal education to that of creation and imagination. He stressed upon his idea through display of a documentary on Vigyan Ashram Model & its basic principles-learning by doing, earn while you learn, multi skill training, and community service. With profound experience in the field of entrepreneurship, Mr Kalbag also suggested for certain possible and beneficial improvements in students’ business plans.
LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal and Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal felicitated the visiting guest and distributed prizes among the winners of innovative project-presentations. Chancellor Mr Mittal apprised of: “We always inspire students to rise as successful entrepreneurs.  Presently, students’ 50+ ventures are running at the campus and LPU is set to lift up university students by inculcating in them the values of inventiveness, entrepreneurship and service to society. Different departments provide solid shape and support to the feasible projects of the students. In this regard, university not only provides mentorship, infrastructural support but also logistics solution to transform students’ imaginations into reality.”
Although LPU students are enjoying great placement in almost all sectors, yet as per the emerging trends a lot of activities are done at LPU to let entrepreneurship spirit keep on glowing among students. So, such important interactions, live entrepreneurship projects, business analysis, new business plans, survey conductions and more form a part of LPU curriculum also.
