Dharamshala, October 27, 2014: The Himachal Pradesh chief minister Vir Bhadra Singh on Monday inaugurated second all women police station of the state at Dharamshala.
After Shimla, this town in Himachal Pradesh became the second in the state to have an all-women police station. Dharamshala Women PS was set up near the main PS , adjacent to SP police’s residence on the national highway, which shall be a easy approach for the needy women.
Singh said such police stations would provide easy access to women in registering complaints. ‘The third such police station would be opened in Mandi town soon followed by few more in the state," he added.
Shimla's all-women police station was opened August 11.
The women police station is headed by an officer of the rank of deputy superintendent of police.
It comprises an inspector-rank station house officer, two sub-inspectors, six head constables and 10 constables. Two constables would be available during the night, said an official.
There is also a provision for women vehicle drivers in both Shimla and Dharamshala police stations. But they are yet to be deployed, the chief minister added.
