SEALING DRIVE BY MCL: Indus Telecom deposits Rs.59. 29 lakh with Municipal Corporation Ludhiana

Ludhiana, July 15, 2016: The sealing drive initiated by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana against telecom companies has brought desired results for the department as on Friday Indus Telecom deposited Rs 59. 29 lakh with MCL. Along with this, some other companies have also offered payment against sealed mobile towers to MCL.

The civic officials on the directions of MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori had started a drive against those telecom companies who had not cleared their dues to department. It was in the month of March this year they had sealed over 100 mobile towers as they to recover around Rs 3 crores from mobile tower companies and over Rs 1 crore has been recovered since the drive had been started.

Notably, in the city most of the towers have been installed by the Indus Tower, Vodafone Essar and Reliance. Apart from this, other companies include Bharti Infrastructure, TATA, BSNL, Spice, Hutch, Wireless TT, Quippo Telecom and GTL Infrastructure.

The Indus Towers have deposited this amount for de-sealing of their 43 mobile towers in various parts of the city. The officials claimed that now they would check their records whether company has cleared pending dues or still some amount is pending and if amount is pending they would raise demand notice once again. They claimed that they would de-seal the towers after checking everything.

MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori informed that it was for the first time drive against telecom companies was conducted and it generated results as well. He told that first VIOM Networks deposited Rs 18 lakh and now Indus Towers paid Rs 59.29 lakh while other mobile tower companies are also approaching .
