School students shout out on `no’ to single-use plastic
New Delhi:  A street play was conceptualized and presented by the students of Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh for spreading awareness on ‘no’ to single-use plastics and promotion of jute bags. 
The performance was given in an event organized by New Delhi Municipal Council. Shri Kishan Reddy Gangapuram, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, was the chief guest of the event. He appreciated students' efforts in making people aware of the health and environmental hazards associated with plastic. Along with students, Shri. Kishan Reddy Gangapuram requested everyone to give up single-use plastics.
Ms.Alka Kapur, Principal Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, expressed her thoughts on this grave issue. She said, “Plastic, one of the most preferred materials, is posing severe threats to our environment as well as human health. Plastic is harmful because it never gets decomposed. Poisonous chemicals filter out of plastic and are found in the blood and tissue of nearly all of us attracts other pollutants, spoils groundwater and do harm to animals living on the earth and in oceans.”
