Scholarships given to needy students of PU

Chandigarh, October 11, 2019: Central Placement Cell Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh organised a function, here today and distributed scholarships for extending financial aid to the needy students given by ‘Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust (Regd.)’ to 12 students.
Dr.S.P.S. Oberoi, founder of the Trust in his address, advised the students to work hard because the Trust is always ready to extend helping hand for the underprivileged but meritorious students. The Trust gave an amount of Rs. 147195 (One lakh forty seven thousand one hundred and ninety five only) to the Central Placement Cell,under this scholarship scheme. Students from the Economically weaker section, differently abled, students/families affected by natural disaster and a student who has lost his/her father are eligible to apply under this.
Prof. Ravinder Kumar Singla, Dean Research, Panjab University, in the presence of Prof. Meena Sharma, Director P.U. Central Placement Cell, Prof. Sarbjeet Singh, Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, and Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Associate Directors, Central Placement Cell distributed the cheques appreciated the efforts of the Central Placement Cell and motivated them to work for the upliftment of the needy students.
Prof. Meena Sharma informed about the philanthropic activities being supported by the Trust. She further informed that informed that for the current academic session the students from different departments can apply for the scholarship till 31st October, 2019.
