Ludhiana, February 20, 2019: Parwasi Sahit Adhyan Kendra of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College will be organising a two day International Conference on Emigrant Punjabi Literature in Global Perspective at College Campus on February 21 and 22. The Conference will be organised with the support of Punjab Bhawan, Surrey, Canada, Sahit Sur Sangam Sabha, Italy, Indoz Punjabi Sahit Akademy, Australia and Shastri Indo Canadian Instritute, Delhi. During the conference, Parwasi Punjabi Writers, Research Scholars from different countries will attend the conference. The teachers and Research scholars from various Colleges and Universities will read research papers on Emigrant Punjabi Literature.

Honorary Secretary of Gujranwala Khalsa Education Council and former Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr. SP Singh said that Parwasi Sahit Adhyan Kendra was established in college in 2011 and till now over 12 National, International Seminars, Conferences, book release events of various writers were organised. Parwasi Sahit Adhyan Kendra has published five books and two books were under process of publishing.

Dr. SP further said that the motive of organising this Conference is to evaluate, understand and appreciate the Parwasi Punjabi Sahit and provide a common platform for writers, readers and critics. Dr. SP Singh also announced that they will honour writers, critics and scholars with award in International conference to be held in 2020. He also added that on February 22, 2019 short films on Immigrants will be telecasted with the support of GGNIMT.

Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, former President of Punjabi Sahit Akademy and coordinator of Punjab Bhawan, Surrey, Canada said that the institution has provided a platform for Parwasi Punjabi writers to discuss and promote Punjabi language, literature and culture.

College Principal Dr. Arvinder Singh informed that honourable Member Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Ludhiana Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu will preside over the Conference. Coordinator of Punjab Bhawan, Surrey, Canada Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill and renowned Scholar Dr. Rana Nayyar (Panjab University, Chandigarh) will deliver inaugural and Keynote address respectively.

Principal Dr. Arvinder Singh further said that Prof. John Reed, Vice President, Shastri Indo Canadian Institute, St. Mary University, Halifax, Canada, Dr. Prachi Kaul, Director, Shastri Indo Canadian Institute, Delhi, Dr. Anne Murphy, Prof. Asian Study, (University of British Columbia, Canada), Mr. Sukhi Bath, Founder, Punjab Bhawan, Surrey, Canada, Dr. Sarabjit Kaur Sohal, President, Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Chandigarh, Mr. Gurbhej Singh Goraya, General Secretary, Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Delhi, Mr. Ajaib Singh Chattha, Chairman, World Punjabi Conference, Canada will attend the Conference as Special Guests.

President of Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council S. Gursharan Singh Narula said that Punjabi Sahit Adhyan Kendra is committed to promote Punjabi language, culture and literature.

Head of Punjabi Department, Prof. Sarabjit Singh said that during the conference, Parwasi Punjabi Writers, Research Scholars from different countries will attend the conference. The teachers and Research scholars from various Colleges and Universities will read research papers on Emigrant Punjabi Literature. On February 22, the Parwasi Punjabi writers will be honoured during the conference. Chief Information Commissioner Punjab, S. SS Channi will preside over the function on last day of conference.

Prof. Sarabjit Singh said that Parwasi Punjabi writers and Parwasi Punjabi institutes should associate with Parwasi Sahit Adhyan Kendra so that more Conferences and events should be organised in future.

During the conference, S. Hardeep Singh, S. Kuljeet Singh, S. Bhagwant Singh and council members, Tejinder Kaur, Coordinator Parwasi Sahit Adhyan Kendra, Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Sharanjt Kaur, Prof. Harpreet Dua and Dr. Munish Kumar were also present.
