SC Commission directs SSP Tarn Taran to act against accused police personal

Chandigarh, August 12, 2014: Taking strong cognizance of the incident happened in Tarn taran District where in a dalit girl was forced for a sexual favour by the police personal, the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes has written hard hitting letter to the SSP Tarn taran advocating strong action against the accused.
In a press communiqué released here today Rajesh Bagha, Chairman, Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes said that it was very unfortunate that the custodian of the law and order are violating the law and indulge in such kind of heinous crime. The Commission has directed the SSP Tarn Taran to initiate action against the accused and send the compliance report to the commission within a week.
Bagha said that the incident is hard wrenching that an innocent Dalit girl was intimated by the Punjab Police personal for sexual favour. He said that when the girl refused the police personal resorted to power tactics and terrorized the girl for dire consequences. He said that even after the girl approached the SHO, he blatantly refused to lodge the complaint and pressurised the girl to keep mum on this issue. Bagha said that a SC Commission has taken suo moto notice of this highly sensitive issue and asked the SSP Tarn Taran to initiate action against the accused and send the compliance report to the commission within a week.
