SBS NAGAR POLICE BUST INTER-STATE DRUG PEDDLING GANG IN SAHARANPUR IN JT OPERATION WITH UP POLICE

CHANDIGARH, JULY 9, 2018: Continuing with their crackdown on drug smugglers and traders, the Punjab Police, in a joint operation with UP Police, on Monday busted an inter-state gang of drug peddlers.

The gang was allegedly involved in smuggling of drugs used to create concoctions by drug addicts in Punjab, and was traced during investigations into some recent drug related deaths, according to SSP SBS Nagar Satinder Singh.

The joint operation, conducted by District SBS Nagar police and Saharanpur police, led to the arrest of two Saharanpur residents, Mohd.Bali s/o Nayar Iqbal and Sohail Qureshi s/o Jerar Ahmed.

Police have seized 480 Buperonorphine injections and an equal quantity of Avil recovered from Mohd. Bali, while another 1220 Buperonorphine Injections, 420 Avil injections, 4400 Alprazolam Tablets and 900 Parvan Space Capsules were recovered from the possession of Sohail Queshi, according to Singh.

The SSP said the police teams of the two states conducted the operation following information received from another accused arrested earlier under the NDPS Act. An FIR no.154 u/s 21-22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Kotwali City Saharanpur by SBS NAGAR police.

Based on the Interrogation of Mohd. Bali and Sohail Qureshi, the SBS Nagar police, along with the Saharanpur police, later raided the pharmacy of Abdul Maruf S/o Salim, Owner of Welcome Pharma, Khan Market Kishanpura, Saharanpur. The police found several discrepancies in the store records and also seized unauthorised stocks of drugs, including 34 bottles of Corex syrup, 21 Avil 10ml injections and 390 Avil 2ml injections.

The records have been seized and authorities have recommended cancellation of the License of Store owner, the spokesperson added.

The Injection Buperonorphine is an opiod derivative, while Avil is an antiallergic drug. When Buperonorphine and Avil are taken in mixture form it forms an addictive drug.
