Sangam—The Confluence, a classical music concert featuring four maestros will be held in Hyderabad on June 29
Hyderabad, June 27, 2019: Sangam—The Confluence, a classical music concert will be held in the city at Ravindra Bharathi on 29th June at 5 pm. It is open to all. There is no entry fee. It will feature four maestros of great reputation. They include: Ramkumar Mishra on Tabla, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya on Santhoor; Vishwamohan Bhatt on Mohan Veena and Pravin Godkhind on Flute. The maestros, Pandit Vishwamohan Bhat will play Mohan Veena, followed by a jugalbandhi with Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya on Santoor and Pandit Pravin Godkhindi on flute. The concert will culminate in a tigulbandi with all the three maestros.All artists will be accompanied by the Tabla maestro Pandit Ramkumar Mishra. It is jointly organised by Santhoor Ashram, Sohini with the support from Play On, Ananya and Foyr. Santhoor Ashram was founded by Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya to spread Indian Classical Music. Sohini was founded by Vinay Deshmukh to promote Indian Classical Music in the city Vinay is an avid patron of Classical Music and Vice President of Oracle India Pvt Ltd. Sohini has been encouraging and promoting talented artists since the year 2015. Sohini organized Concerts in India and USA. Devendra Singh Chauhan , Additional Commissioner of Police , Hyderabad; Mr.Prithwiraj Roy , CEO of Play, Mrs. Madhavi Adimoolam , Founder , Ananya ; Mr. Srinivas Rao a popular Tabla teacher under whose guidance Vinay Deshmukh, the corporate executive and the man behind Sohini is learning Tabla; Mrs. Swati Deshmukh , Co-Founder , Sohini; Mr. Mohan Hemmadi , the legend behind Hyderabad’s classical music circuit and others will grace. About 700 music lovers are expected to grace the concert. Sohini was founded by Vinay and Swati Deshmukh to promote and preserve all genres of Indian Classical Music. Sohini has been organizing several concerts at Hyderabad, Kolkata, San Francisco and Bangalore since the last 4 years. Sohini’s motto is to encourage young talented musicians by pairing them up with senior musicians. Vinay Deshmukh is a Vice President, Oracle India Pvt Ltd. It was set up with the purpose of continuing the legacy and rich heritage of Indian Classical Music and the Guru Shishya Parampara. Ravi Shankar Ji Vishwa Mohan Bhatt has attracted international attention by his successful Indianisation of the western Hawaiian guitar with his perfect assimilation of sitar, sarod &veena techniques, by giving it a evolutionary design & shape and by adding 14 more strings helping him to establish the instrument MOHAN VEENA to unbelievable heights. With blinding speed and faultless legato, Bhatt is undoubtedly one of the most expressive, versatile and greatest slide players in the world. Vishwa Mohan has performed extensively in the USA, Russia, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Scotland, Switzerland, Denmark, then scaling the Gulf of Dubai, Al-Sharjah, Bahrain, Muscat, Abu Dhabi etc. and throughout India. He has been conferred with the two highest civilian Awards, Padma Bhushan and Padmashree by the Govt. Of India. Pt. Ram Kumar Mishra is one of the top ranking exponents of Tabla in India. He is the grandson of Tabla wizard late Pt. Anokhe Lal Mishra and son of legendary vocalist Padma Bhushan Pt. Chhannu Lal Mishra. Ram Kumar the highly gifted, Ram Kumar Ji has performed through the length and breadth of India as a solo artist and as an accompanist to almost all the top musicians covering all major music festivals. He had his first concert at the age of 11. He is the only Tabla player from Banaras to have accompanied living legends such as Pt. Chhanu Lal Mishra, Pt. Shiv Kumar Mishra, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt since the last 25 years. He has conducted more than 30 workshops and lecture demonstrations all over the world. He regularly performs abroad as a solo artist or as a co-artist to maestros. He has travelled extensively to USA, Europe, England, Australia, Japan, UAE and many more countries across the Globe. Pt. Ram Kumar had his training to accompany with a vocal from his father legendary vocalist Padma Bhushan Pt. Chhannu Lal Mishra Ji. PanditRam Kumar had worked as a Tabla instructor at the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi as faculty of performing arts from 1985 to 2003. MaiharGharana’s only santoor maestro Pt Tarun Bhattacharya is known "as the master of one hundred strings." One of the most influential players of the santoor, Bhattacharya has continued to expand on the instrument's capabilities. In addition to adding an extra string, whose pitch can be varied by finger pressure, Bhattacharya incorporated meend, an expressive sliding style of ornamentation. Jazz Times described Bhattacharya's playing as "subtle in inflection and supple in phrasing."Indian classical music shall forever remember this master because of two inventions that he made, inventing “menkas” and creatingRaag Ganga has surely ensured PdtTarun Bhattacharya’s namein Indian Music’s Hall of Fame. India's most humane musician Tarun was the first classical musician to endorse Rotary International ‘End Polio Now 'cause as it's a brand ambassador. Pravin Godkhindi is the 1st Indian Flautist to perform on the 8 Feet contrabass flute. He is one of the "Top Ranking Artiste" in Hindustani Bansuri, by Akashvani (AIR). He is also the 1st INDIAN to represent Bansuri at the WORLD FLUTE FESTIVAL held at Mendoza Argentina. He has won NATIONAL AWARDS for Films BERU & VIMUKTHI.
