Hyderabad, June 29, 2019: Sangam—The Confluence, a classical music concert featuring four maestros held in the city at Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday evening. Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest Devendra Singh Chauhan , Additional Commissioner of Police , Hyderabad said we have inherited the great tradition of Classical Music. But, unfortunately we don’t seem to be caring much. Time will one westerners will come and teach us Yoga and same is the case with Indian Classical Music. We are the custodians of this Treasure called classical music. We have to preserve and pass it on to the next generation, he said. It is a matter of great pride for Hyderabadis hosting these four maestros together for a performance. Addressing the gathering Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt informed that his roots are here. I am a Telangana Brahmin. Coming to Telangana is like coming home. The city has many music lovers. For me Music is like worshipping god. Music is sacred. Music is pious. It has great healing power. It is good for meditation and good for purification. Music makes people better human beings. Music has power to lift the soul and connect to the hod he said. The organizer Vinay Deshmukh said Indian Classical Music is the mother of all music. Music has great impact on the life. In a latest study carried out by IZiT Kanpur, it is found that Raagdarbari when played in the night serves as a stress buster. Similarly Raag Bhimpalasi if played in the moon has a magical impact on mood elevation. Not only this, Sangeet, which is a synonym to ‘Sadhna’ (hard work) for the singers, can also be a boon for listeners. If listened at particular hours of the day, it helps cure various ailments like diabetes and hypertension. According to the study, Vinay Deshmukh informed that those who want to tame their temper should listen to Raag Sahana as it calms the mind and releases anxiety Quoting the study, Vinay Deshmukh added that Raag Deepak and Raag Jaunpuri ease out acidity, Raag Kalyani and Charukesi take care of heart. Listening to Raag Puriya Dhanashree provides relief from ailments related to stomach Our musicians are inventors. Unfortunately, we don’t consider them as inventors even after Pt. Vishwamohan Indianised Hawaiian Guitar into Mohan Veena. His son further invented it called it Saathvik Veena shared Vinay Deshmukh. The four maestros of great reputation who enthralled include: Ramkumar Mishra on Tabla, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya on Santhoor; Vishwamohan Bhatt on Mohan Veena and Pravin Godkhind on Flute The maestros, Pandit Vishwamohan Bhat played Mohan Veena, followed by a jugalbandhi with Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya on Santoor and Pandit Pravin Godkhindi on flute. The concert culminated in a tigulbandi with all the three maestros. All artists were accompanied by the Tabla maestro Pandit Ramkumar Mishra. It was jointly organised by Santhoor Ashram, Sohini with the support from Play On, Ananya and Foyr. Santhoor Ashram was founded by Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya to spread Indian Classical Music. Ram Kumar the highly gifted, Ram Kumar Ji has performed through the length and breadth of India as a solo artist and as an accompanist to almost all the top musicians covering all major music festivals. He had his first concert at the age of 11. He is the only Tabla player from Banaras to have accompanied living legends such as Pt. Chhanu Lal Mishra, Pt. Shiv Kumar Mishra, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt for the last 25 years. He has conducted more than 30 workshops and lecture demonstrations all over the world. PanditRam Kumar had worked as a Tabla instructor at the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi as faculty of performing arts from 1985 to 2003. Maihar Gharana’s only santoor maestro Pt Tarun Bhattacharya is known "as the master of one hundred strings." One of the most influential players of the santoor, Bhattacharya has continued to expand on the instrument's capabilities. In addition to adding an extra string, whose pitch can be varied by finger pressure, Bhattacharya incorporated meend, an expressive sliding style of ornamentation. Jazz Times described Bhattacharya's playing as "subtle in inflection and supple in phrasing."Indian classical music shall forever remember this master because of two inventions that he made, inventing “menkas” and creatingRaag Ganga has surely ensured PdtTarun Bhattacharya’s namein Indian Music’s Hall of Fame. India's most humane musician Tarun was the first classical musician to endorse Rotary International ‘End Polio Now 'cause as it's a brand ambassador. Pravin Godkhindi is the 1st Indian Flautist to perform on the 8 Feet contrabass flute. He is one of the "Top Ranking Artiste" in Hindustani Bansuri, by Akashvani (AIR). He is also the 1st INDIAN to represent Bansuri at the WORLD FLUTE FESTIVAL held at Mendoza Argentina. He has won NATIONAL AWARDS for Films BERU & VIMUKTHI. He started toying with a small flute at the age of 3 years while his first public performance at the age of 6. He took his Talim from Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi & Vidwan Anoor Ananth Krishna Sharma. PravinGodkhindi has performed with Eminent Musicians like UstadZakir Hussain, Dr Balmurali Krishna, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Dr KadriGopinath, Sivamani, Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya and many more. The four maestros mesmerized the audience in their three-hour performance.
