Sadbhawna Diwas Observed At GGNIMT

Ludhiana, August 20, 2015: The NSS(National service Scheme) club of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines organized an event to observe ‘Sadbhawna Diwas’  in the college campus here today.
The event was organized to promote communal harmony, national integration and peace amongst people of all religions, languages and regions. The occasion included motivational speeches from the Co-ordinator and various department heads to shed off their inherent differences and unite as ‘Indians’
Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Co-ordinator, GGNIMT, inaugurated the NSS club and explained the importance of this day in the Indian history. He advocated love, affection and harmony amongst people of all castes, religions and creeds to promote national progress. He inspired the students to be become  good human beings as the first step towards Sadbhawna.
 Prof. Parvinder Singh, Head, Dept of Business Management while deliberating on the topic said We are country of 1.2 billion people with rich diversity in terms of language, culture , religion, castes and region. He further said that this diversity should be used to the advantage of the country rather than  a reason for violence .
He explained that Sadbhawna Diwas  is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Former Prime Minister Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. He motivated the students to trace down the history to understand that the internal differences within the country has always weakened it and invited dangers from outside. He said “many of us may need to be rootless, yet rooted just like a money plant”.
Prof. Satinderjit Singh discussed in length the NSS, a scheme for promoting youth involvement in affairs of nation to help them understand the problems and to enable them to come out with solutions. He also said that since the world is opening up, one needs sadbhawna more today than anytime else. He said the opportunities can land you in any part of the world and the feeling of Sadbhawna would go a long way helping him achieve his personal dreams along with national goals.
Dr. P. S Khatra , Prinicipal , GGNIMT highlighted that revered personalities and Saints like Guru Nanak, Baba Farid, Bhai Khanaiya and freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawahar Lal  Nehru have all preached and  stood for Sadbhawna. He further gave examples of  Bhagat Puran Singh and  Mother Teresa who have  practiced  sadbhawna  and have been instrumental in touching million of lives through their noble acts.
The event concluded with the sadbhawna pledge where every one vowed to promote national harmony.
