Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mr Anil Joshi on Monday attending the annual prize distribution function of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, September 28, 2015: Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mr Anil Joshi has said that for overall development of all cities and towns of the state, funds amounting to Rs 4,000 crore would be spent. He said that Rs 500-600 crore would be spent on the development of Ludhiana city alone. He said this while speaking to media persons after attending the annual prize distribution function of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, here today. Mr Joshi said that tenders of development works would be floated within next month';s time.
      While speaking to media persons, Mr Anil Joshi said that there is no shortage of funds for carrying out development in the state. He said that if additional funds are required for a particular project, they would be provided by the state government. He said that it is Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal';s vision that all urban as well as rural areas of the state get all facilities such as streetlights, sewerage, water supply, roads, besides others.
      He said that under the Smart City Project, 100 different cities have been chosen by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and Ludhiana is one of them. He said that the development works for Ludhiana city would be carried out in a phased manner. He said that soon, Ludhiana city will have 100 percent water supply, sewerage, streetlights, good quality roads, besides others.
      Responding to a query related to notices by Punjab Medical Council to some private doctors, Mr Anil Joshi said that the entire matter is into his notice and unnecessary harassment of doctors should be stopped. He said that the Punjab Medical Council should take action against any doctor only if he or she flouts rules and the Council has concrete evidence against them.
      While addressing the students during the Annual Prize Distribution function, Mr Anil Joshi apprised the students about the historical significance of September 28, which is the birth anniversary of Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh. He told the students that it was due to the sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh that we are an independent and free country now. He said that the real tribute to our great martyrs would be only if we respect our parents, teachers and elders, stay away from drugs. He also distributed prizes to toppers of different subjects.
      Prominent among those present on the occasion included Chairman, Green Land Group of Schools Mr Rajesh Rudra, Mayor Mr Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, vice chairman of Punjab Planning Board Prof Rajinder Bhandari, BJP District President Mr Parveen Bansal, Senior Deputy Mayor Sunita Aggarwal, Deputy Mayor Mr RD Sharma, MC Additional Commissioner Mr Ghanshyam Thori, MC Joint Commissioner Mr AS Sekhon, Mr Vijay Danav, Mr Laxman Dravid, besides others.
