Road under bridge (RuB) in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ludhiana being inaugurated on Thurday.

Ludhiana, November 6, 2014: The Road Under Bridge (RUB) constructed by Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) near Lodhi Club, here, was inaugurated by Irrigation minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today. This RUB has been constructed with a cost of Rs 37.5 crore and would provide respite to city residents in a big way.

Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that all such major projects have been constructed during the term of present Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party government.

"Our government has constructed Lakkar Bridge flyover, Sidhwan Canal Expressway project, Partap Chowk Flyover, Gill Road Flyover, Pedestrian Under Pass near Mini Secretariat and Aggar Nagar, besides several other projects. But on the other hand, the Congress party and its leaders have done nothing for the overall development of the city. All they can do it issue misleading statements for their own vested interests," he said while speaking to media persons during the inauguration of the RUB near Lodhi Club in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar area, here today.

Criticising the Congress party for launching a misleading campaign against the SAD-BJP alliance, Mr Dhillon said that both the parties want communal harmony and peace in the state. "Our main aim is overall development of the state and coalition between Shiromani Akali Dal as well as Bharatiya Janta Party is rock solid. Rumours regarding the tug of war between both the alliance partners were highly misleading," he said.

Dhillon said that this RUB was a long pending demand of the city residents and now it would provide respite to thousands of people living in its vicinity.

This Rs 37.5 crore project is 541 metres long, 20.80 meters wide, the width of carriageway is 7 meters, its depth is 11 meters and two electric motors of 10 HP each have been installed to drain rainwater.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Advisor to CM Punjab Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, MLA';s Manpreet Singh Ayali, Darshan Singh Shivalik and Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, vice chairman, Punjab State Planning Board Rajinder Bhandari, Chairman, Zila Parishad, Ludhiana Bhag Singh Maangarh, district president BJP Parveen Bansal, district president SAD Madan Lal Bagga and Harbhajan Singh Dang, MC councillors Jagbir Singh Sokhi, Tanvir Singh Dhaliwal and Rakhwinder Singh Gabria, Youth Akali leader Simranjit Singh Dhillon, Akali leaders Harpreet Singh Bedi, Gurinderpal Singh Pappu and Gurcharan Singh Vinta.
