Road Safety Clubs in colleges and schools of Kanga District: DC, Kangra
Dharamshala, July 31, 2018: Road Safety Clubs shall be constituted in all the colleges and schools of Kanga District to aware the youngsters of safe driving. All the schools of the district are intimated about it. Informing about this scheme, Sandeep Kumar, DC, Kangra said here, that to make young drivers sensitive about safe driving, all the school and College heads are directed to constitute these clubs. The clubs shall have representatives of teachers, students and parents as the members. This will help in improving road safety and reducing the accidents. DC said that these clubs will educate the youth about the rules of the road safety. He added that generally it is seen youth driving two wheelers without helmets, which are one of the reasons of fatal accidents, “most of these drivers don’t even have the valid driving licenses”. He added that the principals of the institutions are instructed to ban the entry of students coming to the institution without helmet on two wheelers, and inform their parents about the same. Santosh Patial, SP, Kangra informed that 175 people lost their life sand 919 were injured in 722 two wheelers accidents in Kangra district between year 2015 and 2018 (upto 30th June). SP said that these are serious figures to think about the road safety especially about young two wheeler riders. He said, “The administration of the district is serious to check these road accidents. The public is being made aware of the road safety. ‘No Helmet No Petrol’ scheme is one of the several steps being taken in this direction.” “Administrative concerned authorities are instructed to act strictly over the law breakers,” said DC.
