Jalandhar, February 10, 2015: A contingent of 25 students of Cambridge International School, Chotti Baradari, Cambridge International School For Girls and Cambridge International Foundation School, Jalandhar accompanied by Coordinator Ravinder Mahal, Ajay Wadhwa and Amandeep Singh took part in the YMUN conference held in Yale University, New Haven, USA under the expert guidance of the Academic Director Deepa Dogra.

Cambridge very frequently provides these kinds of opportunities to the future citizens of India which give them the freedom to take a flight and venture into areas which would help them to be more confident and capable of putting forth their ideas with conviction.

At the YMUN session at Yale University, New Haven, USA there were around 1600 delegates from 30 countries. Students from only 3 schools from all over India took part in the conference. The Grand Opening Ceremony took place on January 22, 2015. It was a curtain raiser for the forthcoming events and sessions.

During the 6 sessions of YMUN the students of Cambridge Institutions proved that the youth of today is capable enough to eradicate anxiety by pondering over the burning issues of the world and finding suitable solutions to them. They also proved how balanced and reflective they were by finding ways of uprooting some serious issues that pose as demons in the progress of the developing and under developed nations. During the sessions it was crystal clear that in Cambridge, the values like empathy and universal fraternity are woven into the curriculum. They all proved that their dedication, hard work and self-confidence were able to win them votes during the session.

Besides the YMUN the students enjoyed being at the most bustling square of New York known for its Broadway theatres, cinemas and electronic billboards, Times Square in New York, there they actually got to know that what makes it a constantly buzzing tourist magnet. A visit to the UN Headquarters at Manhattan, New York, was an eye opening experience for the students. Students got a chance to interact with some of the senior guides who apprised them with loads of information about it. A ride in the ferry and a visit to the Statue of Liberty was also very amusing.

To add the colours of enjoyment and excitement to the YMUN, a Delegate Dance party was arranged at the Omni hotel, New Haven on January 24, 2015 in the evening. Students got an exposure to various cultures and they also got a chance to shed their prejudices if any.

Twenty five overwhelmed souls along with three energetic teachers could not stop themselves from exploring places besides the decided venues and schedule. They all came back with loads of experience and friends across the globe.

On January 25, 2015 the Closing ceremony culminated with the award declarations. It was a matter of great pride for the Cambridge contingent when the 1600 put their hands together to applaud for Ridhima Malhan, of CIS, Chotti Baradari, Jalandhar, for winning the Honorable Mention Certificate out of 160 delegates. She proved that determination for a particular dream takes birth when there is a vast exposure in a specific direction.  This award in itself endorses that Cambridgians exhibit self- confidence and leadership skills which without any doubt are the core values of the modern world.

Chairman Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Deepak Bhatia, Director Learning wings J K Kohli, Nitin Kohli, Academic Director Deepa Dogra and Principal Cambridge International Foundation School, Jalandhar Meenu Huria, Principal Cambridge International School, Chotti Baradari-II, Jalandhar Kiranjoth  Dhillon and Vice-Principal Cambridge International School For Girls, Jalandhar, Preeti Sharma, appreciated the passion in the students and teachers to work with zeal and enthusiasm to bring about the desired change to make this world a place worth living and also congratulated Ridhima Malhan and the group for their achievements.
